Doctors face Shipman hearing

13 April 2012

Seven doctors are to appear before the General Medical Council following criticisms by the official inquiry into serial killer GP Harold Shipman, the GMC confirmed today.

The seven were named as Dr Peter Bennett, Dr Susan Booth, Dr Jeremy Dirckze, Dr Stephen Farrar, Dr Alistair MacGillivray, Dr Rajesh Patel and Dr David Bee.

The case of each doctor was heard by the GMC's Preliminary Proceedings Committee, which determined that the allegations, if proved, would constitute serious professional misconduct.

All seven cases will be heard by a GMC Professional Conduct Committee.
Dr Bee's case is listed for September 27. The remaining six cases have not yet been listed.
