Doctors open later to help commuters

More London GP surgeries than ever are staying open later to make appointments easier for commuters.

Figures show 1,109 practices now open in the evenings and at weekends, compared with 1,065 last month.

The rise means almost 73per cent of surgeries now have extended hours.

Nationally 71per cent of GP practices are now open longer.
