Engineering works set to hit bank holiday travellers
Millions of rail, Tube and bus travellers face huge delays during the bank holiday weekend with many routes affected by engineering work.
There will be nearly 100 more rail replacement buses than last year.
The Notting Hill Carnival also means major disruption over a large part of west London with local Tube stations closing early and buses diverted.
On mainline rail only three of the 25 train operating companies - Eurostar, Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express - are advertising a normal service over all three days. The remainder will all suffer some closures or restricted service at some point.
On mainline rail the worst affected passengers will include those heading to and from Luton Airport with First Capital Connect services severely restricted on Sunday. South West Trains services to and from Waterloo line will be restricted on both Saturday and Sunday with a limited Saturday service on the Monday.
National Express East Anglia/Stansted Express, Virgin Trains, First Great Western and Chiltern Railways each report restricted and changed services for all three days.
Network Rail insisted it would be an "unremarkable" Bank Holiday weekend for travel with about 95 per cent of services running compared with a normal weekend. However, the number of replacement buses has been increased by 89 to 3,428.
On the Tube, Latimer Road, Notting Hill Gate, Royal Oak and Westbourne Park stations - those most affected by the carnival - could close early or be exit-only at certain times of the day.
