Evening Standard mobile phone app tops charts

12 April 2012

The Evening Standard's mobile phone app has topped Apple's iTunes charts after being downloaded more than 73,000 times.

It has also been a huge success around the world. In America, it was among the top 10 free news apps.

Readers can use it to keep up to date with the latest breaking news, save articles to read later, and even post their favourites to Twitter.

It's also a great way to get the latest World Cup results and news from our news and sports teams in South Africa. The app is available for every major type of smartphone, so will work on everything from a BlackBerry to an iPhone.

To get started, simply visit your phone's app store and search for "London Evening Standard".

The Evening Standard's website has also gone from strength to strength, and last month had three million visitors, half from the UK. Last week alone, there were 900,000 visitors, 400,000 from the UK.
