Free Cats show for thousands

12 April 2012

The final performance of Cats, the world's longest-running musical, will be relayed live from the New London Theatre to a giant screen in Covent Garden piazza on Saturday.

At least 5,000 people are expected in the piazza for the 18,949th performance of the Andrew Lloyd Webber show, which has taken £140million at the box office since it opened in London on 11 May 21 years ago.

Members of the original Grammy-winning cast including Elaine Paige, pictured in her Cats make-up, will meet fans in the piazza before attending the 8.30pm theatre performance. One of the Covent Garden audience will win two tickets to join them.
