Fury of James Bulger mother as his killer goes on 'lads' holiday'

12 April 2012

The mother of murdered toddler James Bulger has spoken of her fury after it emerged that one of his freed killers was allowed on an unsupervised holiday abroad.

Denise Fergus said she was "disgusted" after it emerged that convicted murderer Robert Thompson was allowed to travel on a "lads' trip" to Europe while on parole.

The revelation comes after it was discovered that Thompson's accomplice Jon Venables, now back behind bars for child porn offences, was allowed on a holiday to Norway following his release.

Mrs Fergus, 43, told the Sun: "I was told I would be informed if the terms of their life licence were varied - and I should have been."

Venables and Thompson were 10 when they abducted two-year-old James on Merseyside in February 1993. The pair, now 28, took him to a railway line where they tortured and killed him.
