Labour targets new terror Bill

Labour today launched a last ditch bid to stop the Government weakening anti-terror laws which will allow suspected extremists to return to London months before the Olympics.

MPs were due to vote today on the Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures Bill which will replace control orders with measures, which will not have powers for forced relocation. Labour was seeking to table an amendment to retain these powers.

Shadow Home Office minister Diana Johnson said: "The effect of the Coalition's plan could allow extremely dangerous individuals, currently excluded from London, back into the capital in the lead-up to the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee."
