Learjet jewels for corporate crowns

TYCOONS with big egos - and wallets to match - will today be able to admire two souped-up versions of the famous Learjet, the ultimate corporate status symbol.

Manufacturers Bombadier of Canada will unveil the Learjet 40, a new light business jet, and the Learjet 45 XR, a faster, sleeker version of the popular Learjet 45, at the Farnborough Air Show in Hampshire.

Most company bigwigs will only be able to look longingly however. Firms such as Granada and Marconi have come under heavy fire for the excesses of owning a jet in these tougher times.
