London is set to be hit with at least two more weeks of cold, wet, blustery weather, as unseasonable August weather continues.

The Met Office has warned that damp, windy conditions and persistent that has hit the capital are likely to continue for at least the next two weeks.

Temperatures are set to hover around the low 20s.

A forecaster said: ““It’s very up and down and a couple of days dry then some rain. That’s the pattern."

"Today's weather will turn cloudy as the day goes on, and eventually into the evening tomorrow there will be some rain that will arrive in London around 6pm or 7pm – sort of grey and drizzly end to the day.

Thunderstorms and strong winds are predicted across the rest of the south-east for the remainder of August.

“There’s no big sign of us having an area of high pressure which would bring a long period of hot weather but that’s not to say we might not get warm weather in the low 20s.”

Temperatures will remain in the low 20s for the rest of the week and although conditions should brighten over the weekend, the Met Office said heavy rain will begin to fall in the city by Monday night.

It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow warning of rain on Tuesday after the capital was battered with 12 hours of torrential rain which sparked flooding and disruption for commuters.

Stations across London including Clapham Junction and Highbury and Islington were flooded, causing closures.
