Lottery boost for diamond projects

The Big Lottery Fund is to mark the Queen's diamond jubilee in 2012 with 60 extra grants.

The fund, in partnership with ITV, is to make £60,000 available for new projects that inspire or improve communities. Groups across the country were today invited to bid for a share in The Jubilee People's Millions.

Finalists will be showcased on ITV regional news when the public will vote for them. Groups have until February 4 to apply.
