M11 closed after four people are injured in pile-up

Four people were hurt today during a multiple pile-up on the M11 involving four lorries, four cars and a coach.

The crash was on a stretch of the motorway just north of Stansted Airport at about 10am. Two people had become trapped on the coach in the crash between junctions eight and nine.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said a man in his thirties and a woman in her twenties cut free from the coach had leg fractures, while another man and woman from separate cars had neck and back injuries. None of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.

The motorway was closed in both directions.
