Moore daughter's tribute to 'bestest man in my life'

Found in his flat: Dean Moore
12 April 2012

THE family of Bobby Moore's son, who was found dead in his west London flat this week, have told how their lives have been "turned upside down" by the tragedy.

Dean Moore, 43, was discovered by paramedics on Wednesday after a worried relative dialled 999. He described himself as a "habitual drinker".

The death is the latest tragedy to befall the family following the 1966 World Cup-winning captain's early death at 51 to cancer. Dean Moore's daughter Poppy said she was devastated and described her father as the "bestest man in my life".

In an online tribute, the 19-year-old said: "Dad, I love you to the moon and back. My life has been turned upside down. You will always be the bestest man in my life... Would do any thing to be up there with you now my heart has broken in 2 today.

"Daddy, I love you so, so much. I know how proud you are of me as you always told me I am going to make you even prouder.

"I know how you felt to lose your dad at such a young age and I know you would hate me to feel this way."

In the weeks before his death Mr Moore had been struggling to overcome his addiction to alcohol.

On his Facebook page, he told how he had recently finished a five-month spell in rehab but said it was "hard to keep up [the] good work". A post-mortem examination will be held but the likely cause of death is natural causes.

His mother Tina, Bobby Moore's first wife - they divorced in 1986 - and sister Roberta were too distraught to speak, but in a statement they said he would be "sorely missed".

They said: "We are deeply shocked and distraught at the sudden passing of our beloved Dean.

"We will, along with many, many others, miss his warmth, kindness, generosity and most of all his wonderful sense of humour and big heart.

"We have lost a dear father, son, brother and uncle, and he will be sorely missed not just by us his family, but by all those whose lives he touched."
