MPs lose document courier perk

MPs have been stopped from having documents hand-delivered to their homes after the little-known perk was exposed by the Evening Standard.

It means MPs living within a mile and a half of Westminster are no longer having Parliamentary papers brought to them by couriers and staff on a daily basis - saving £3,000 a year. But they are still allowed to have the papers sent by post despite the information being available online.

Emma Boon, of the TaxPayers' Alliance said: "It's worrying that some members insist on still receiving expensive, posted copies. With modern technology there is no need for this to continue."
