Murdered DJ worked on anti-knife campaign

A young rap musician who was stabbed to death after performing a DJ set at a London nightclub had worked with police on an anti-knife campaign, his sister revealed today.

Carl Beatson Asiedu, 19, of Norbury, was attacked outside Club Life in Goding Street, Kennington, on Saturday 1August. Today his family paid tribute to him and appealed for witnesses.

His sister Annabelle said: "At just 19, he left us an amazing legacy. Imagine what he would have done if he had lived longer. He worked with young people making a film in an attempt to get more black people to join the police and to change attitudes about the police If we had a reason for this, it could make things easier, but there is no reason."

Detective Inspector Chris LePere said Carl, a student at De Montfort University in Leicester, had been chased by up to nine men shortly before he was killed. Mr LePere said the attack was totally unprovoked but may have been down to jealousy of Carl's success as a DJ.

Eight people have been arrested and bailed in connection with the murder. No one has been charged.
