Millions of National Lottery players have been told to change their passwords after more than 100 online accounts were hacked.

The National Lottery has warned millions of people who play the game online to change their account passwords following a cyber attack.

Camelot issued the warning following a “low level” attack which affected 150 customer accounts ahead of Friday’s £14-million draw at 8.30pm.

Hackers gained access to the accounts using a technique called “credential stuffing.”

No money was stolen during the hack and limited information was taken, a spokeswoman said.

"As part of our regular security monitoring, we have seen some suspicious activity on a very small number of players' accounts," Camelot said.

"We have directly contacted those players whose accounts have been affected."

Camelot has suspended all of the accounts which were affected and have advised all 10.5 million National Lottery players to change the password on their online accounts.

Privacy watchdog the Information Commissioner, the police and the National Cyber Security Centre have been informed of the attack, the spokeswoman said.

Camelot warned in November 2016 that about 26,500 National Lottery accounts could have been hacked.
