Nightclub favourite of stars like Madonna told to shut early

The nightspot where Madonna held son Rocco's 10th birthday party and Robbie Williams celebrated winning a Brit has had its opening hours cut after neighbours complained that drunken clubbers were ruining their lives.

Families near Notting Hill's Supperclub claimed they were kept awake until 3am or 4am by loud music and clubbers fighting, urinating and vomiting in the street.

Police have also raised concerns about violence outside the "generally well-run" £2 million venue.

Now Kensington and Chelsea council has ordered Supperclub, in Acklam Road, to stop selling alcohol and playing music at midnight, and to close by 1am. Councillor Pat Mason, who backed the residents' campaign, said: "We have elderly people living right opposite, and nurses who need to get up for work, and there are drunks staggering around at 3am and 4am."

The cabaret club was previously open until 2am. Its owner, Alberto Barbieri, told the council he had hired extra staff to send customers home quietly and would pay for new windows to block out noise.
