Off for their honeymoon: Kate and Wills could be heading to the Seychelles

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have begun their honeymoon, it was confirmed today.

William and Kate are believed to have left yesterday for an undisclosed destination. The couple want to keep the holiday "entirely private" after the publicity surrounding their wedding at Westminster Abbey.

But according to reports, they have flown to the Seychelles and will spend their time on one of the islands available for private hire.

St James's Palace confirmed that Prince William has taken two weeks' leave from his role as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot. A palace spokesman said: "We are not confirming and we are not commenting on speculation on where they may be going on their private honeymoon, we are just confirming that they have gone."

The couple had planned to head off on honeymoon the day after their wedding. But they delayed the trip in favour of spending their first weekend as husband and wife at a private location in Britain, before William returned to his RAF duties in Anglesey.

William was reportedly seen leaving north Wales yesterday in his car, accompanied by a police Range Rover piled high with luggage.
The royal couple have asked to be left alone while on honeymoon and it is thought that security issues may have delayed their original trip.

A palace source told the Standard: "The Duke and Duchess took the decision to have a private holiday. It was their decision and that is perfectly understandable. A honeymoon is a very private event for any couple and they are no different. It will be entirely private and no pictures will be released."

As well as the Seychelles, Africa, Jordan and private islands in the Caribbean have been suggested as possible destinations.
