Officials at Bank 'were simply lying'

BANK of England officials 'were simply lying' to the judge during an original probe into the £10bn collapse of BCCI, claimed Gordon Pollock QC, acting for liquidators Deloitte & Touche in the ongoing High Court fight. He alleged that during the 1992 Bingham Inquiry, Bank officials claimed ignorance of their duty to supervise BCCI. Court evidence also revealed a disparaging attitude to overseas regulators. A handwritten note on one Bank memo said it 'might puzzle the odd wog'.
