Pete Doherty to blame for death of heiress

Prison term: The death of Robyn Whitehead has been called an 'obscenity'
12 April 2012

Singer Pete Doherty was blamed today for the death of Goldsmith heiress Robyn Whitehead.

She filmed herself taking crack cocaine with him hours before a fatal drug overdose. Today, her ex-boyfriend Jake Fior said her death at 27 was an "obscenity" and he held Doherty responsible.

In January last year, Miss Whitehead, who was making a documentary, filmed herself and Doherty, 32, smoking from a pipe at the flat of his friend Peter Wolfe in Hackney. She was found dead the next morning.

She had cocaine in her body, although she died from heroin poisoning. Doherty admitted possessing cocaine and was jailed for six months.

Mr Fior said: "If you have the peer pressure that exists in any situation with Doherty and his entourage I think your free will is going to be compromised." Miss Whitehead's mother Dido is a cousin of Jemima Khan and Zac Goldsmith.
