Police stop train to hunt for gunman

Police stopped a passenger train today to search for a gunman.

Customers on the Southeastern train had to get off at Orpington while officers went on board, but there was no trace of the man or the firearm.

The man was said to have got on the train after officers approached him and another man in Milkwood Road, Herne Hill, at about 1pm. The other man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and was held at a south London police station.
