£295m bid to buy the Priory

The priory clinics, famed for treating addicted, alcoholic or depressed celebrities, are being bought by the co-owner of Nottingham Forest FC, the Evening Standard learned today.

Nigel Doughty's venture capital firm Doughty Hanson is paying £295million for the clinics, famed for treating the likes of Kate Moss and Michael Barrymore.

The 17 venues include the Priory at Roehampton, which charges up to £500 a day. Mr Doughty's purchase from Westminster Healthcare is likely to make millions for its chief executive Dr Chai Patel.
