Refreshing new take on Royal Park sculptures

12 April 2012

Sculptures that double as water drinking fountains for both humans and dogs have been unveiled by the Royal Parks.

The designs include Trumpet, a bronze by Ben Addy that makes gurgling sounds as it is used, and Watering Holes, a pierced Cornish granite standing stone created by Rome-born Robin Monotti and Mark Titman.

Judges could not decide on an overall winner, so both will be made and installed throughout London's eight royal parks.

Sara Lom, chief executive of the Royal Parks Foundation, said: "When we went looking for the perfect design to replace some of our ageing fountains which are now beyond repair, we found there was just nothing suitable available."

Winner Addy said: "The chance to create something both beautiful and functional for a public space, was just wonderful."
