Police today issued CCTV images of "crucial" witnesses to the shooting of a five-year-old girl.

The pictures of the seven men and one woman were caught by cameras close to the scene in Stockwell when Thusha Kamaleswaran was shot by teenage gunmen.

The girl has been left paralysed from the waist down after being shot in the chest by one of three young men who had chased two rivals into her uncle's convenience store.

Police sources say there has been a massive response from the local community to the shooting but there remains a small section who are refusing to speak to detectives.

The CCTV images show several people, including a group of young men, who were close to the Stockwell Food and Wine shop in Stockwell Road at the time of the attack at 9.15pm on 29 March.

Police say none are suspects but some were either inside the store or near-by just moments before the shooting.

Det Chf Insp Tony Boughton, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We would like to speak to all of these people, or anyone who knows who they are, as they might have crucial information. We have had an incredible response from the community but we still need more information.

"If these people are concerned about speaking to police I would urge them to call Crimestoppers or maybe speak to someone in their community who would be happy to come to us. We can protect your identity."

Thusha is still in hospital and is described as a "lovely little girl" by staff.

The bullet damaged her spine and left her with no feeling in her legs.

Kazeem Kolawole, 18, of Kennington, Anthony McCalla, 19, of Streatham, and Nathaniel Grant, 20, of Camberwell, have been charged with the attempted murder of Thusha and shop worker Roshan Selvakumar, 35, who was shot in the face.

Anyone with information should call the Trident incident room on 020 8247 4553 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
