Ripper leaves jail for a day

Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was allowed to leave prison to visit the spot where his late father's ashes were scattered.

The Sun reported that Sutcliffe, 58, who is serving life for the brutal murders of 13 women, went to Cumbria on Monday where his father John's ashes were scattered.

In May 1981 Sutcliffe was jailed for life at the Old Bailey in a killing spree which terrified the country. The jury decided the Yorkshire Ripper was not insane, but a sadistic murderer.
