Woodland near a shopping centre in Kent is being searched by police as the investigation into the potential murder of a mother-of-five continues.

Officers combed an area near Bluewater in Dartford on Wednesday as part of ongoing searches after the disappearance and potential murder of Sarah Wellgreen.

The 46-year-old was last seen on October 9 in Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, and has not been in touch with her family since. She was reported missing on October 11.

Detective Superintendent Paul Fotheringham said she "disappeared without a trace", which was "entirely out of character".

The only item missing from her home was her black iPhone 4.

Officers have searched areas across the county in the last week.

Divers have been in the River Darent in Dartford town centre, police and council workers have searched drains and the fire service stepped in with a drone.

Hundreds of members of the public volunteered to help.

A man in his thirties was arrested on October 16 and released on bail until November 16. Police have said they will not yet disclose what he has been arrested on suspicion of.

Detective Inspector Chris Greenstreet, of the force's major crime unit, said: "Officers are continuing to search a number of areas in north and west Kent in connection with identified lines of enquiry and following information coming in to the investigation team.

'It remains imperative that anyone with fixed CCTV or dashcam footage within a five-mile radius of New Ash Green gets in contact if they have not yet called us," he said.

"The information on the footage may be crucial to the investigation."

Ms Wellgreen is white, around 5ft 7in, of medium build, with green eyes and straight, brown, shoulder-length hair.

She is believed to have connections to Farnborough and Portsmouth.

Police have asked people who live in the area by the A2, M25, Cobham, Meopham and Horton Kirby to check sheds and woodland for any sign of her.
