12 April 2012

The imposing scale of the new skyscraper that will dominate London's skyline is revealed in this dramatic picture of the Shard of Glass.

It has already risen higher than 770ft, overtaking the Canary Wharf tower as Britain's tallest building, and will reach 1,017ft when it is completed in 2012, making it the tallest building in the European Union.

The photograph, shot across London Bridge station to the City beyond, was taken aboard Network Rail's helicopter.
