Motorbike thieves strike at the Watches of Switzerland store in Oxford Street
12 April 2012

This is the moment smash and grab raiders struck again in the heart of the West End.

Four men on two motorcycles sped up to the Watches of Switzerland store in Oxford Street at 10.10 this morning in front of dozens of shoppers.

One of the pillion passengers leapt off the bike and used a sledgehammer to batter a hole in the shop glass. The men grabbed a handful of Rolex watches.

The raid was captured on camera by an Evening Standard reader who wishes to remain anonymous.

It is the latest in a series of attacks on stores in the West End. Last month thieves escaped with about £100,000 of Rolex watches after a raid on Mappin & Webb jewellers in Old Bond Street.
