South Korea slips into recession

SOUTH Korea's economy tumbled into recession after contracting in the second quarter but analysts remain hopeful of a revival towards the end of the year.

Data released today showed that Asia's fourth-largest economy shrank by a provisional 0.7% in the April-to-June period compared with the first three months. It also contracted in the first quarter, sliding 0.4%.
