Stock Exchange puts in office plans

THE London Stock Exchange has applied for permission to build two office blocks alongside its Exchange Tower headquarters on Old Broad Street to increase the value of the site. The Exchange wants to sell the site when it moves to its new home at Paternoster Square in 2004, but stagnant demand for City offices means conditions for a sale are not ideal. A decision on the application is unlikely before next summer.
