Strolling on the O2 roof

Open next summer: Skywalk at the O2
12 April 2012

Visitors will be able to enjoy stunning views from a walkway on the roof of the 02 next summer.

The 620ft-long walkway will be suspended around the edges of the roof, nearly 200 feet above the ground. Greenwich planners gave the go-ahead last night for the walkway, which will open in time for the Olympics and offer views across Games venues.

Alistair Wood of AEG Europe, which owns and runs the O2, said: "The lightweight nature of the structure will ensure the experience is as close to walking on the roof of the tent as possible, while the 200ft climb and the fact that the experience is open-air will add to the sense of excitement."
