Sven face-to-face with FA

Sven-Goran Eriksson was fighting for his professional life today at a meeting with Football Association bosses.

He was giving evidence to an inquiry into the sex scandal involving FA secretary Faria Alam, 38. The 56-year-old England coach arrived at Heathrow yesterday from Amsterdam but was said to be too shaken by the media attention to attend an emergency meeting.

The scandal has deepened after revelations that FA communications chief Colin Gibson attempted to broker a deal with the News Of The World in which he offered details of Eriksson's affair with Ms Alam in return for keeping quiet about a relationship with FA chief executive Mark Palios.
