Two found dead in public toilet

13 April 2012

Two people were found dead in a public toilet after apparently taking drugs, police have said.

The bodies of a man and woman, aged 20 and 22, were discovered by a cleaner in a toilet in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Police said it appeared the pair had taken "poor quality" street drugs which are circulating in the area.

Toxicology tests are being carried out on the bodies to establish what type of drugs they had taken.

A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said the deaths were not being treated as suspicious but warned drug users to be extra cautious following the deaths.

He said: "We ask individuals to be mindful that there are currently street drugs circulating in the Blackpool area that are of poor quality and a risk to health if taken.

"Please exercise caution when buying or taking non-prescription drugs."

The man and woman are thought to have been attending a punk music festival in Blackpool.

The woman is believed to be local and the man is from the Southampton area.

They were found in a public toilet in the Cocker Square area of the town on Saturday morning.
