Amar Singh13 April 2012

This is the face of the only gunman captured in the Mumbai terror attacks.

Azam Amir Kasab is seen in an undated photograph released by Mumbai police today, lying on a bed beside medical equipment at an undisclosed location in the city.

Kasab, 21, and an accomplice took part in a lethal killing spree in the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus rail station and are also believed to have attacked a police vehicle at Cama Hospital, killing anti-terror squad chief Hemant Karkare.

He was captured alive on Wednesday night after being shot in the hand during a stand-off with security services. Under interrogation it is understood he said the terrorists intended to kill as many as 5,000 people and were told to target Britons and Americans.

He has reportedly confessed to being trained by militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group in Pakistan and told to "kill to his last breath".

Meanwhile, the terror group which claimed responsibility for the Mumbai attacks is threatening new atrocities in Delhi, it was reported today.

Intelligence sources claimed to have received an email from the Deccan Mujahideen, warning of a repeat attack, targeting Delhi's main international airport and three railway stations.

Police in the Indian capital have begun checks on rickshaws after receiving intelligence that the three-wheeled vehicles would be used in a bombing campaign.
