A teenager was killed jumping out of a moving ambulance on a highway in South Carolina.

The 16-year-old boy was being driven to a psychiatric hospital near Greenville, in the north-west of the state, and died shortly after he tried to escape.

Emergency workers treated the teenager before taking him back to hospital in Greenville, where he was pronounced dead.
