A new boy's tee for the summer

Mark Walton Cook10 April 2012

When it comes to the T-shirt, the white round-neck version made iconic by James Dean in the Fifties is still the ultimate, enduring classic in all its pec-and-bicep-clenching glory.

All Saints has a range in sludgy greys, blues and browns and even sedate Zara is succumbing to the trend, while Top Man has reasonable versions for just £7. Religion Clothing also has some in this summer's striped sailor look.

Take this a bit further and you have the sort of cowl neck where swathes of material droop down the front. I can't now see them without thinking of Pippa Middleton's bridesmaid's dress.

This one is definitely for the younger guy (see pop moppets One Direction). The fitter members of JLS, like Aston Merrygold, have sported the look, and a white version of the scoop neck features in the new 2KX clothing range that the boys have worked on with fellow X Factor alumnus Alexandra Burke, which is due out this summer.

A look for those with bronzed pumped pectorals only.
