Actor Brad Pitt has talked about his confrontation with producer Harvey Weinstein following claims by his then-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow that Weinstein had allegedly attempted to grope her.

In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Pitt spoke about his relationship with actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who he famously dated in the 1990s.

Paltrow was revealed as a main source in The New York Times article about Weinstein, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple sexual assault charges.

Before she began filming the Jane Austen movie Emma, Paltrow alleges that Weinstein asked her to meet him in his Beverly Hills hotel suite, greeting her in a robe and then “placing his hands on her.”

After Paltrow refused his advances, she told Pitt what happened and he eventually confronted the producer.

Pitt told Amanpour about the confrontation. “At that moment, I was just a boy from the Ozarks on the playground and that's how we confronted with things,” he said. "I just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because she [Paltrow] was going to do two films.”

He went on to say, “I think the interesting thing is that we, Hollywood specifically, but the workplace, men and women's dynamics is being recalibrated, recalibrated in a very good way that is long overdue. And I do think that's an important story to tell."

Pitt also opened up about his divorce from Angelina Jolie and his relationship with alcohol, telling Amanpour: "What I realized is that I was running to avoid tough feelings, painful feelings. “I just didn't know how to deal with them. Anything I found that I used for escape," Pitt said.

"Those kinds of em... those kinds of difficult feelings, I don't know how better to describe it. It can be anything, drugs, booze, Netflix, snacks. Anything. I don't want at this point to be running from anything," he said.
