Stars including Taron Egerton and Dame Joan Collins hit the glamorous Cap d'Antibes tonight for Elton John's AIDS Foundation Midsummer Gala.

The inaugural party, hosted by Sir Elton and David Furnish, is to raise funds for the Elton John Aids Foundation. The couple also hosts an annual Oscars viewing party.

This year's benefit took place at photographer Jean Pigozzi's private estate, Villa Dorane in the South of France.

A-list guests mingled beside the pool before venturing inside for an elegant Mediterranean feast of Burrata, sea bass gremolata and stuffed zucchini flowers.

Guests wore their summertime finery, with many choosing to emulate Elton John's iconic looks. Taron Egerton, who played Sir Elton in Rocketman, arrived early in tinted shades with his girlfriend, Emily Thomas.

An auction was held to raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation, where guests were invited to bid on an exclusive Bentley Flying Spur First Edition in deep blue - which eventually went for 700,000 euros. Other lots included a Chopard watch, which sold for 90,000 euros, and a 9-day holiday in a chalet in Courchevel which went for 120,000 euros.

The night was topped off with an after-dinner performance from Coldplay's Chris Martin. To the crowd's delight, Sir Elton eventually joined Martin on stage for a rendition of Rocketman.

Guests then headed to a poolside dance floor to party into the early hours to a set from DJ Fat Tony.
