Comedian Katherine Ryan says her style of comedy means that she is often praised by far-Right groups who misinterpret her humour.

Ryan, who says she is “very un-PC” but also describes herself as “woke”, said some fans struggle to realise that her offensive jibes do not make her anti-feminist or against LGBT rights. She told A List: “I’m very interactive with people on social media and I get these very fascist, Right-wing people who say to me ‘I really like your comedy because you’re un-PC and you don’t care.’

“And then they think they can have dialogue with me that is hateful. And I say to them ‘what you don’t realise is you think I’m un-PC, but I’m very feminist, very LGBT positive and very trans-inclusive’.”

Ryan who lives in north London with her daughter, said that she does not correct people who get the wrong impression of her, but will sometimes interact if she thinks there could be a “funny result”. She added: “What usually happens is I will tweet about a few issues that they disagree with and they’ll figure it out quite quickly. And I’m like ‘yeah I am offensive but I’m not a d***’. It’s amazing to me that they’re surprised.”

Canadian-born Ryan, 35, is returning with a new series of Your Face Or Mine, which she hosts with Jimmy Carr. The show sees the duo quiz couples who are asked to predict how attractive people think they are. It has featured a host of famous couples who have since split, including Love Island stars Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood.

Ryan insists she has “no guilt” over couples who split after appearing on the show. “If you’re 20 years old and you haven’t got a mortgage and you haven’t got kids or any real problems, if you fell out over your looks then you were never going to make it anyway,” she said.

Your Face Or Mine continues on Comedy Central UK tomorrow at 8pm
