In Michelle Obama's new Netflix documentary Becoming, her daughters open up about their mother's influence.

The new documentary focuses on Michelle as she embarks on her world tour for her bestselling Becoming memoir, but her entire family is part of the film. Her mother Marian Robinson, brother Craig Robinson and husband Barack Obama make appearances.

Her daughters Malia and Sasha Obama are also featured.

According to People, in one scene Malia, 21, is seen with her mom backstage during one of Michelle's Becoming tour date stops.

Malia, who's currently at Harvard University, says, "You're so good, I love you too much," and then says, "I cried again."

When her mom asks, "Why you always crying?" she answers, "This has demonstrated in a way - it’s just like, damn, those eight years weren’t for nothing. You see that huge crowd out there...people are here because people really believe in hope and hope in other people."

She also told her "every time you guys play Stevie Wonder, I don’t know, I cry a little bit."

Both daughters also appear briefly on-camera in an interview from 2018. It's one of the rare times they've given an interview and they've kept an especially low-profile ever since their dad left office in 2016.

"I’m excited for her to be proud of what she’s done ‘cause I think that’s the most important thing for a human to do is be proud of themselves," Sasha, 18, says, while Malia adds, "No longer facing that same scrutiny, being able to let all of that leave your mind, creates so much more space."

The documentary is going to be released on Netflix on May 6.
