Sharon Stone has revealed she was struck by lightning in a freak accident in her kitchen.

The actress, 62, told Brett Goldstein in an appearance on his podcast Films to Be Buried With that the lightning hit her as she was filling up her iron and she was "thrown across the kitchen" and knocked out.

"I was at home" she said, "we had our own well. I was filling the iron with water. I had one hand on the faucet, one hand on the iron and the well got hit with lightning and the lightning came up through the water. I got picked up and thrown across the kitchen, and I hit the refrigerator. I was like, “Whoa!”’

Stone said her mother was there to help bring her around before driving her to the hospital, where high levels of electricity in her system were measured.

"My mother was standing there, and my mother just belted me across the face and brought me to. I was in such an altered state, like just so, I don’t know how to describe it — so bright, like wow."

Stone has overcome other medical emergencies in her life. When she was 43 she suffered from a serious stroke which she told the Radio Times meant she could not "write my name for almost three years."

She told Variety last year, "I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know? It was like Miss Princess Diana and I were so famous – and she died and I had a stroke. And we were forgotten.”
