Does sex make you richer?

A flash for cash: experts say sex can make you feel wealthier
10 April 2012

It will come as no surprise to most of us that a couple of clever professors have worked out that sex makes us happier.

What is more surprising is the price tag they attach to it.

According to their study, increasing the frequency of your frolics from once a month to once a week is equivalent (in happiness terms) to earning an extra £30,600. Quite simply, they think sex makes you richer.

To find out if Londoners agree, I went to Borough High Street.

If you have sex before work, you have that extra-special mojo which puts a spring in your step and gives you the focus you need to work extra hard. So you'll gain extra points with your boss and get recommended for promotion at double the speed of someone who doesn't get laid.

If you're obsessed with sex, then every time a fit boy walked into your office you'd get distracted and end up being less productive, so you wouldn't get promoted.

Richer in money and in life. The latter if you're having sex for the right reasons. It can make you richer in wealth if you're a prostitute.

Lily, 33, retail assistant

Not if you get carried away and end up having to stump up £25 for the morning-after pill.

Richard, 33, management consultant

Not if sex produces results. Babies cost a lot more than a wife.

Yes
Andrew, 31, banker

I feel richer as a person if I'm enjoying sex regularly. Sex three or four times a day is the kind of richness I enjoy.
