Autumn boots: why a three-pronged attack will see you through all scenarios this season

The boots that are up to the task of seeing you through to next spring

The opportunity to wear your trusty pair of boots every day is up there with stacks of great telly and the chance to get reacquainted with your sofa as the Official Best Thing About Autumn.

But therein lies the dilemma - which ones are up to the task of seeing you through to next spring?

Our suggestion is to opt for a three-pronged attack, with a trio of styles designed to make dressing for the cold a walk in the park.

First up, invest in a pair of quality, flat, go-with-everything ankle boots, such as & Other Stories’ navy patent Chelsea boots (below).

Second, break out of your ankle-length comfort-zone with a pair of knee-highs (see Kurt Geiger at top) or over-the-knee boots (try L K Bennett) - a must for the days when you need to break free of your tights.

Finally, splash out on a really razzy pair in preparation for the December deluge of social engagements.

Saint Laurent’s glitter-and-velvet-star-spangled pair (above) fit the bill nicely and win bonus points for their uber-sensible heel.

Ready for autumn? You bet your boots.
