When you think of fashion week, you think about dreamy high fashion ensembles, stars sat front row and all the lust-worthy designer accessories the new season will deliver. In that, you'll never be disappointed.

However, there are a number of other delights fashion week delivers. And in the case of Spring/Summer 2019 on the catwalks of New York, it's 'rather bizarre - yet creative - "it" handbags'.

Brandon Maxwell led the way, unveiling two creations which fast-became somewhat of a talking point over the weekend.

Supermodel sister duo Gigi and Bella Hadid took to the catwalk with a bag so small you had a squint to see it.

The American fashion house created a transparent bag, the perfect shape and size for carrying... a bottle of bubbly! He demonstrated this by sending out model carrying a bottle of sparkling 'Brandon Maxwell' Rosé, which perfectly complimented her pastel pink look.

5p plastic bag with that bottle of vino? No thanks. From now on, we're going Brandon Maxwell and transporting our wine in style.

And it's not only micro and 'wine' bags that have turned heads in the Big Apple. Food-themed bags have also been a popular choice this season.

Acid NYC revealed a number of sustenance-inspired bags, from strawberries to sushi rolls, whilst The Blonds Disney collaboration featured a bedazzled apple.

But the bizarre bag spots didn't stop there.

VFILES showcased coathanger 'bags' with doll-sized clothes, whilst Christian Cowan created a clutch made out of wrist watches.

With fashion month just beginning, who knows what we'll ultimately end up carrying on our arms next summer.
