Brand new Kate Moss collection set for Topshop stores in spring 2014

Kate Moss has reunited with retail tycoon Sir Philip Green to launch her first fashion collection for his Topshop chain in more than three years.

The supermodel has already started work on the designs for a spring/summer range of between 40 and 50 pieces that will hit the shops next April.

Announcing the tie-up today, Moss said: “I have really missed being involved in the design process, and working with the team at Topshop.

“I am very excited to create a new collection that bears my name — now more than ever with London being at the forefront of fashion — as it feels like I’m back home.”

The news sent a buzz of excitement through the fashion world with one fan tweeting it was “very bad news for my bank account”.

The move revives a hugely successful collaboration which ran to 14 collections between 2007 and 2010, for which Moss was reportedly paid about £3 million.

The launch range in 2007 was described as “the most sought-after high street collection in history”.

Hundreds of shoppers descended on Topshop’s flagship Oxford Street branch on the day of the launch to see Moss pose in the windows in a long red dress she had helped design.

No details of the new collection was available today but fashion experts said it was likely to take the supermodel’s own wardrobe for inspiration and feature wide-leg coloured trousers, jeans with a more relaxed fit, blazers and little black dresses.

The idea of renewing the partnership is said to have come this summer while the pair were holidaying together in St Tropez in the south of France.

The Kate Moss Collection for Spring Summer 14 will be sold through Topshop’s 319 UK stores and in 39 other countries as well as online.

The 39-year-old model will work with Topshop creative director Kate Phelan and her friend the stylist Katy England.

Sir Philip said: “I am personally thrilled that Kate wanted to come back to Topshop to work with us again. The first time around was such a lot of fun and she has been sorely missed.

“The Topshop business has developed extensively around the globe since we launched with Kate in 2007, and it’s our intention to launch and sell this collection in all 40 countries world-wide where Topshop has a presence, in addition to creating pop-ups in department stores around the globe.”
