Since Christopher Bailey announced, last October, that he was leaving Burberry after 17 years, the fashion world has been curious as to what the future of the iconic British brand would look like.

In March, Riccardo Tisci, who previously reigned at Givenchy, was appointment his replacement - and only now has he given us a glimpse as to what we can expect from the new chief creative officer.

Using Instagram, the Italian designer posted several new campaign images from the spring/summer 2019 pre-collection, making it very clear that he is taking Burberry in a new direction.

The collection, curated by Tisci is called 'B classic', which we're guessing stands for Burberry Classic, providing us with a clue that Tisci is going to concentrate on bringing back the timeless, quintessentially British Burberry aesthetic.

In a stark contrast to Bailey's final rainbow-filled collection, Tisci's curated collection champions neutral tones with shades of beige, olive green and black.

The jump back to Burberry's heritage of earthy hues is no real surprise as Tisci previously said: "I have an enormous respect for Burberry’s British heritage and global appeal and I am excited about the potential of this exceptional brand.”

The 43-year-old has even already put his own spin on the brand's signature check, opting for a more contemporary wide plaid print.

However, there is one thing that Tisci seems to be continuing from Bailey and that is showcasing that love is love.

Models in the new campaign are seen embracing in different adoring ways, their faces covered by hair creating a gender-neutral feel, something which Bailey celebrated in his final collection by dedicating it to the LGBT+ community.
