A fashion firm is taking style beyond the grave with a new range of clothes for the well-dressed dead.

Shopping website Lyst asked its customers what they would like to wear to their funeral before coming up with the Over My Dead Body range, which was then worn by models posing in coffins.

The survey found that more than half of women would opt for a high-fashion look, with almost as many saying they would wear stilettos.

Men went for a more casual look in the afterlife with about a third opting for flip-flops and baseball caps.

Lyst’s editorial director, Katherine Ormerod, said: "What we wear is such a huge reflection of who we are and our personalities that it’s unsurprising that people now have a clear picture of what they want to be buried in."

"They say life’s too short for boring clothes - we agreed and took it one step further."

"Death is too long to get your last outfit wrong."

The range, featuring items from the likes of Topshop, Nike and Kat Maconie, is also available as a Death Threads package, where next of kin are informed about the outfit choice.
