Lewis Hamilton is creating a clothing collection with Tommy Hilfiger

And it's off to a roaring start

After four successful collections, Gigi Hadid showcased her final Tommy X Gigi show during Milan Fashion Week in February.

The end of the partnership had everyone wondering what was next for the luxury American label.

As it turns out, Gigi gave us all a rather big clue with her final racing-inspired collection. It's been announced that British Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton is the latest celebrity to partner with Tommy Hilfiger to create a collaborative collection.

Already a Hilfiger global brand ambassador and fashion show regular, the four-time Formula One World Champion is now set to race into the realms of menswear, designing his own Tommy x Lewis collection that's due to drop in autumn 2018.

The pair held an exclusive event in Shanghai to mark Hamilton's designer debut, unveiling the collections logo which merges Hilfiger's iconic flag with Hamilton’s initials in the same font as his tattoos.

The collection will feature everything from apparel and footwear to accessories, underwear and socks, and is sure to have a few racing themes running throughout.

“As my love of fashion has grown so has my desire to design a collection. It is an honour to partner with Tommy Hilfiger to make this dream come true,” said Hamilton.

He also hinted that this could be a recurring occurrence, adding, “I cannot wait to show fans around the world how Tommy and I have channelled our creativity into this first TommyXLewis collaborative collection.”

This isn't the first time Hilfiger has dipped his toes into the world of racing - the brand is currently the Official Apparel Partner of Mercedes-AMG Petronas.

The brand's love of motorsports dates back to 1991 when it sponsored the Lotus Formula One team.
