16.10: BFC & Google Panel Discussion: The Importance of Collaboration in Fashion Sustainability

It was announced earlier this week that Google was collaborating with WWF Sweden on an environmental data platform that will enable more responsible sourcing decisions for businesses in the industry.

The platform will analyse the materials and their sources, taking into account factors such as water scarcity and pollution, as well as estimating impacts on greenhouse gas emissions, drawing on Google Earth Engine data which offers satellite imagery and geospatial data which can detect changes and map trends on the Earth’s surface.

This talk will discuss the details of the new initiative with a stellar lineup of fashion insiders, including a representative from Stella McCartney, the first fashion brand confirmed to work with the new platform.

The talk will be moderated by Maghan McDowell (Vogue Business) with panel participants: Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council; Claire Bergkampf Stella McCartney's worldwide sustainability and innovation director; Laila Petrie, CEO of 2050.Cloud and Vice-Chair of the UNFCCC Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action; and Maria McClay, Head of Luxury Fashion at Google.
