Ralph & Russo, Stella McCartney and Harold Tillman win big at the Luxury Law Awards

The Luxury Law Awards 2018 celebrated the great and good of the fashion scene last night with winners including Stella McCartney, Ralph & Russo and Michael Kors.

Former chair of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman, was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for his illustrious career.

The event, hosted by the Evening Standard’s Amira Hashish at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho, centred on craftsmanship and sustainability in luxury retail and the digital evolution of the industry.

As part of his acceptance speech Tillman also spoke about the impact of Brexit on retail and the importance of shaping intellectual property law for the future of British fashion.

Here are some of the fashion industry’s big winners:

Luxury Business Leader 2018: Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, Ralph & Russo

In just 10 years, the winners have turned a small couture atelier into a global powerhouse. The first British couture label in a century to show at the official Paris Couture Week in 2014, this winning brand has been making waves ever since. Boasting a client list that includes international celebrities, billionaires and royalty, the dynamic pair have now established themselves as one of the most 'go to' luxury brands in London. Global expansion is on the cards and new boutiques are planned around the world.

Luxury Sustainability Award 2018: Stella McCartney

Since she founded her brand in 2001, Stella McCartney has focused heavily on sustainability, creating ethical fashion, employing fur-free fur, skin-free skin, and faux leather and creating trainers without glue.

A true pioneer of sustainable luxury, McCartney’s tenacity in building a high-end fashion brand while maintaining environmental values has inspired many others to follow her lead. Constantly innovating, this brand stands above and beyond others.

Luxury Entrepreneur 2018 Award: Rob Jones and Catherine Teatum, Teatum Jones

Rob Jones and Catherine Teatum are unique talents in the industry. Celebrated for their modern, polished and bold aesthetic, the design duo combine unique creativity with a strong human and ethical message in each and every of their collections. They are fiercely true and passionate about their vision and do not compromise their authenticity and understanding of how to run a fashion business whilst delivering a strong creative.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2018: Harold Tillman, CBE

A retail entrepreneur and investor, Harold has led and shaped the British fashion industry for the past 50 years. Formally the head of Jaeger and Aquascutum, he was also chair of the British Fashion Council (until September 2012) and is currently Chairman of the Ethical Fashion Forum, Former Chairman of the Alumini Board of the University of the Arts and Fashion Matters Fundraising for Students and a former trustee of the V&A. He was awarded a CBE in recognition for his achievements in being a driving force for the Fashion Industry and is now a champion of sustainability through Common Objective.
