Mad about the boys...men's street style in London

The sights on the streets at this weekend’s showcase events were more than proof that the capital deserves its own men’s fashion week.  Emma McCarthy introduces the menswear industry’s most dapper gents

Martell Campbell, 26, is a designer and stylist from Balham. Martell is wearing a customised Paul & Joe jacket, a Full Circle shirt, Topman backpack, Ben Sherman trousers and Paul Smith shoes. “I’m very excited about London getting its own men’s week; I think it’s an area with massive growth.”

Alex Fury, 29, is the editor of LOVE Magazine. Alex is wearing Mary Katrantzou trousers, a YSL jacket, Cos top, Prada shoes and a Sophie Hulme bag. “I haven’t attended London’s men’s day since 2009 due to the Milan shows, so it’s great Britain’s burgeoning talent now has a bigger platform.”

Darren Kennedy, 31, is a TV presenter from Dublin. Darren is wearing a Hackett blazer and waistcoat, a Tommy Hilfiger shirt and shoes, Uniqlo jeans, a vintage bowtie and Lacoste bag. “I think the shows are fantastic as we guys often get overlooked, and the style on the street is particularly impressive.”

Reese Crisp, 26, is a Selfridges buyer from Dalston. Reese is wearing a Tiger for Sweden jacket, Marni for H&M shirt, Cos trousers, Ami shoes and an Army Surplus bag. “Menswear is a massively expanding area, so I’m very happy to welcome a bigger schedule to London. It’s great to be here.”

Nigel Ruwende, 22, is a stylist from West Norwood. Nigel is wearing a Zara jacket,a TM Lewis shirt, Replay jeans, a Hackett umbrella and pocket square, a Fullum & Goult bag and Swear shoes. “I have nothing but positive things to say about the London menswear shows; finally, we’ve something to boast about.”

Arthur Malan-Murison, 34, is the editor of GQ Style South Africa. He is wearing all South African brands, including a Frank Bespoke suit and Alexander Missaqui shoes. “I’m very excited about the London Collections, I think it’s about time British designers got a bit more recognition.”
